Paddy Sims Tjapaltjarri

Paddy Sims Tjapaltjarri (c.1920 - 2010) was active/lived in Australia.  Paddy Tjapaltjarri is known for Aboriginal art, engraving.

Paddy is the great painter and one of the most influential insiders in this region. He is married to Bessie Sims Nakamarra, also a recognized artist and important initiate. He is at the origin of the pictorial movement in Yuendumu but owes his fame to his trip to Paris in 1989 for the famous exhibition "The Magicians of the Earth" at the Center Georges Pompidou.

In 2000 he engraved with Paddy Stewart 30 plates from which we will print small format engravings. It is with this very special work that the two men won the prize in the category "best work on paper" during the Testra Award. His themes are varied, proof of his broad knowledge.
